Calvert™ Light is a friendly slab serif - a contemporary interpretation of the Egyptian types made popular in the 1930s. Margaret Calvert, a South African artist who migrated to England as a teenager, designed much of the wonderful pictographic signage marking Great Britain's roadways. In 1979, she developed her namesake typeface specifically for northeast England's Tyne and Wear Metro. Calvert worked with the Monotype Type Drawing Office to create a text face based on her signage designs. Less mechanical than geometrically rigid slab serif fonts like Rockwell, Calvert Light is an excellent choice for both text and display typography. Character Set: Latin-1
